“LOOK STUART, YOU CAN’T HAVE HER OKAY? SHE’S EDITING THE POSTERS FOR THE FAIR!”
Jessica pursed her lips as she sat in the chair in the middle of the room, watching chaos break around from around her. She had valiantly tried to shout out her input but her small voice couldn’t be heard of the raucous shouts of the teenage boys.
“Well, you can’t have her!” Han’s clear voice came from the speakers. “We were talking about coding okay? I was nearly done with my website when you most kindly dragged her away from me.”
“And she has excellent medical experience!” Reed protested from where he was sitting on the sofa, his swollen ankle propped up on the cushions.
“Well, we have to get this video done and this idiot right here—”
“FUCK YOU, DEREK!”
“—can barely work out how this software works.”
“GUYS!” she yelled out. They paid her no heed and they just continued on arguing amongst one another.
Jessica closed her eyes and tilted her head up the ceiling. This was going to be a long day…
She whipped out her phone and fired off a text to Nathan.
I think we’d have to push back our dinner reservation.
Want me to smuggle you out?
Jessica laughed lightly. Can you?
I’m appalled that’s even a question. A pause. A beep. Another text. I’ll be there in ten minutes.
